After some month of daily use of my home brew smart home I’ll use the term home control.
Learning #1: smart requires way more time and work
Learning #2: On any mobile device the usage of my home control web page increased mucho by just wrapping the page in a native app
Learning #3: By adding more value to the native app (I used voice control and auto login) the native app replaced the web page completely
Learning #4: The most used features in my home automation/control project were: 1) Night mode 2) Check for “on” states 3) Turn of lights
